Learning New Things

During winter session I took a patternmaking course everyday at FIT. It took up most of my time and I did not have a chance to blog. I'm back and wanted to share with you my final project.

For this I sketched an original design, did a draft of a pattern, traced the pattern from the draft and then cut and assembled the dress:

Well 1/2 of a dress (as per FIT requirements). Lol.

The theme was Coney Island and the dress was based on the lines and color of this building:

I learned a lot about patternmaking and myself through the course of this month. I learned how hard I can work and how many great ideas I have! Now I'm glad to have more technical knowledge to support them :)

I know it defeats the point of being a recluse by blogging this for the whole world to see. Nonetheless this is how I've been feeling lately. Feeling like I need to spend more time in the real world, making clothing, doing photoshoots, art, etc. Oh the irony, blogging is a solitary act isn't it? So I have become a blog recluse as of late. I don't really care about trends and FW is getting stale for my tastes. I'm getting sick of an industry that kills its geniuses. But I can't see myself doing anything else.

C$tg Goes Green!

I tried to think of a way to use scraps of fabric that I have pilling up in my workspace. Ding ding ding! I'll make earrings! Presenting the Gold Star Earring, if you never got one in school now's your chance! These earrings are made from recycled metallic blue and white zebra print fabric I have left over from a dress that was made. Oh and I'm only selling them for $19!
